Delta Epsilon Iota


Our Executive Director presented at the 2005 Conference of the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Employers. The program entitled "It takes two to tango! Bringing student organizations and career serivices together!" covers how to improve relations between career centers and the student population. A panel of professionals who are actively engaged in bridging the gap between student organizations, career services, employers and the community were the focuse of the program. The panel included:

Olga Magnusen - Senior Director of Career Serices at Florida International University,
Laura Melius - Director of Career Services at Eastern Kentucky University,
Jason Aldrich - Director of Employer Relations at University of Georgia,
Dana DellaCamera - Marketing and Outreach Coordinator at Florida International University, Rich Drye - Executive Director of Delta Epsilon Iota

They discussed how Career Services that partnered with student organizations can:

Increase the visibility of the Career Center on Campus
Encourage an atmosphere of scholastic achievement and student retention
Create "word of mouth" excitement for programs and professional engagement
Develop a team of highly motivated student volunteers
Establish organized mentoring relationships between Seniors and Freshman

The panel taught some of the best practices currently being implemented around the country to promote student involvement around the countryt and discuss how to deal with the challenges that can arise
